This tall piece of black tourmaline sits in a dark stained wood base so it can be seen from every angle! The stunning vertical striations add to the beautifully lean appearance.
The base has been carved to fit the tourmaline perfectly and the mineral is glued in to be sure it will not fall out.
Tourmaline is one of the birthstones for October. It is the name of a large group of boron silicate minerals, which share common crystal structure. However, despite the similarity in physical properties, tourmaline occurs in a broad range of colors. The vertical striations of tourmaline is caused by alternating prism faces.
