This exquisitely lustrous and shiny specimen comes from the Chub Lake locality in New York.
The bladed metallic hematite crystals are paired with Cumberland-habit smoky-colored quartz.
Chub Lake has been known for its wonderful minerals collected from there and from the surrounding St. Lawrence County hematite mines since the 1850s. However, it became forgotten in the mid 1900's until rediscovered in 1983 during which collectors worked over the area once again. pulling out specimens
